Stupidity

Posted on Oct 31st, 2009 by Domus Ulixes : Some Kid Domus Ulixes
Theo Maassen: 'No man is smart enough to grasp his own stupidity'

This is very true. And there are no exceptions. Especially not me.

If you try to unravel your own stupidity you eventually will encounter it. I guess mostly in the shape of someone else. Who does have some form of interest in you, and making him or her look at you.

I guess, my stupidity is, that I hoped I could thwart my own. That I could be consistent, and pervasive. That I was able and intelligent enough not to be fooled by my surroundings.

Now I am thinking, If i ever was. It was because my surroundings, where just lame as simple. And the moment I ventured into more difficult areas of life. Namely, not my own. I hit some sort of lantern quite hard and it bounced me on the ground. Resulting into discovering that parts of me where in fact characteristics I really hate in other people.

On the one hand I thank whomever gave me this realisation. On the other it left me somewhat mentally breathless.

I have no idea what to think of myself now.

What am I? (and this is not some sort of existential crisis)
What did I dive into?...

Instictively, I would say I needed to run. But that would be really just running away from myself, which as it seems is the one person running from is fruitless.

I feel empty, I haven't felt like this in a long time. It feels like I have to rethink myself over. But I know that very likely there is no more space for others in my life then.

Which in my opinion isn't an option either. Because it didn't render me with fruitfull results really. Let alone provide a social and realistic feedback for what I think and do.

Am I afraid? Maybe I am though. Maybe I am afraid to loose what little I have. And it isn't materialistic. It is what knowledge I have about how I react, and why. Buddhists might say it is better to drop this sense of self. But I think that to do that, you might need to understand 'self'' before you go by dropping it.

I don't know yet just what to do.

Perhaps I need to speak a little down under to get ther.

From Russia with heels

%u041C%u0430%u043A%u0441%u0438%u043C - %u041D%u0435 %u043E%u0442%

(just for the bigger idea, I have no idea what it means.)

In The old sovjet, I find remnants of science that are abandonned or over-subsidised. I respect the russian scientists greatly, to see how much they can do, with practically nothing.

I have even heard a few things that went on during the cold war, no longer in operation now, but for what I would have been killed If I knew then.

The contrasts in this country are biggest. Sint Petersburg is the best untill now, the right contrasts. Moskou is less great. But still a huge rich city.

It is nice to be here, and I miss down under girl terribly. ;)

Regards,
Frederik

Natural blues

The Werewolf - Moby - Natural Blues

oh lordy, trouble so hard
oh lordy, trouble so hard,
don't nobody know my troubles but God
don't nobody know my troubles but God

went down the hill, the other day
my soul got happy and stayed all day

oh lordy...

went in the room, didn't stay long,
looked on the bed and brother was dead

oh lordy...

(one of Ricci's better performances)

Someone coloured me...

Posted on Aug 24th, 2009 by Domus Ulixes : Some Kid Domus Ulixes
I don't know why, but appearently I am coloured.

I discovered during my montly 'web-content check'
It seems strange, because, I really dislike the colour...

hmm...
If anyone out there thinks I like this colour, please don't.

On the other hand, If i fill in my name, with my correct birthdate... I do get the right colour! White, with a hint of green.

I am curious though, what are your people's colours?

What is Enlightenment?

Posted on Aug 20th, 2009 by Domus Ulixes : Some Kid Domus Ulixes
In my opinion, the question is wrong.
After all, I think that enlightenment, if it even exists, isn't attainable whilst we are in our bodies, as our bodies are our gateway to the reality, but also confine us as animals. I know no other process but death to get rid of ones body, losing our connection to the reality. Rendering enlightenment useless.
So my question is, and has been for years with subsequent answers to it.
What is the strive to enlightenment?

In my opinion it is simple.
First, we have a choice: The first assumption we need to make how the world works. It has been proved by Gödel that any set of axiom's (assumptions) will contradict itself. But without assumptions, we cannot live.
You have for instance: There is one definite truth, that we are unable to fully see.
Or: something that is proven to be truth once will be so in the future and everywhere.
Or: What I see with my senses is what is my truth.

Each of these have some easy immediate contradictions that will counteract them. You can think of them for yourself, or I can give them to you, but that wouldn't be much of a challenge .

The important thing is choice, and more important is that these three for instance contradict one another. More mind boggling is that all three represent a Quantum theory that accurately predicts the world.

Concluding that whatever reality we might find, it is independent of this first Prime-assumption.

And now, we can use this prime-assumption to endeavor in the exploration of the world around us, and the understanding of ourselves and actions and emotions. to learn about humans in general. And to try and unravel just what the reality means. For me, doing that every day, trying to improve yourself. With reflection outward (you cannot do it alone) is the strive to enlightenment.
And that is what I think.

qu'est-ce que 'la vie' ?

Posted on Jul 30th, 2009 by Domus Ulixes : Some Kid Domus Ulixes
A question often asked.

You can define it as biochemical equilibrium body that is self sufficient.

You can define it as a quantummechanical consciousness.

Or even as a gift from some higher dimensional power.

Either way, we all know it is there. It is one of the very, very few things, we can be certain of in this world!

So first of all Enjoy it

Second, we might find interference in it from all three above called explanations. You will be faced with contradicitions, your life will be hormonal, you will have emotions, you will be dealing with other people. And your faith will fall.

why?

Because that is life. you are an organism, therefore you will make mistakes which in time will hurt others. Fact 1.

You will be troubled with the will of other people, no matter how hard you will try, you will notice you cannot live life solely by your own will. Fact 2.

Your faith will fall, that is good, doubt and contemplation strengthens it, or renders it useless. Either way, believing a fictional tale, will surely put forward many contradictions after all, You didn't think of the tale yourself. Fact 3.

So now what?
enjoy life?

yep.

And if I might suggest an action.

Find someone to love.
real love.

cos as you will miss your limerence when they are gone.
You will not miss the love for them.

No matter what the distance, your love will remain, for that will never be gone. Love is that piece of the other, that isn't part of her at all, but does keenly resemble them, kept here with yourself. Regardless of their choices and actions. Hence you cannot love someone else, if you don't love yourself.

Don't try to achieve happiness through a relationship, you need to know how to become happy by yourself, you are the only one who can do it.

Remember, most people don't think, they can use this list.

You are different from others, and those difference can destroy you, or enrich you, if you are willing to accept them, and not let them consume you.

Friends come and go, and  a precious few stick with you. For they respect you, and also apply to the above list.

You can never always be wise, it is impossible. You will be faced with weak moments, just like you will be faced with strong.

You are never done learning, no matter who writes, no matter what you think. There will always be things to learn. Which is good, otherwise you'd better die.

There is no goal in life, no higher purpose, no reason for life. That is very good. For we are all free.
We are all free to chose our own goals in life. We are free to chose whatever purpose or reason our life should have.
We are utterly free to do whatever we want with our lives.
So keep a weary eye for those who want to supperimpose it upon you, and take care of the young, who didn't have the time or strength, to protect themselves from it.

and for all the other advice,
wear sunscreen.

regards,
Frederik
