It is a hard life

Posted on Oct 3rd, 2008 by Domus Ulixes : Some Kid Domus Ulixes
QUEEN-It's A Hard Life

I don't want my freedom
There's no reason for living with a broken heart

This is a tricky situation
I've only got myself to blame
It's just a simple fact of life
It can happen to anyone

You win - you lose
It's a chance you have to take with love
Oh yeah - I fell in love
And now you say it's over and I'm falling apart

It's a hard life
To be true lovers together
To love and live forever in each others hearts
It's a long hard fight
To learn to care for each other
To trust in one another right from the start
When you're in love

I try to mend the broken pieces
I try to fight back the tears
They say it's just a state of mind
But it happens to everyone

How it hurts - deep inside
When your love has cut you down to size
Life is tough - on your own
Now I'm waiting for something to fall from the skies
And I'm waiting for love

Yes it's a hard life
Two lovers together
To love and live forever in each others hearts
It's a long hard fight
To learn to care for each other
To trust in one another - right from the start
When you're in love

Yes it's a hard life
In a world that's filled with sorrow
There are people searching for love in ev'ry way
It's a long hard fight
But I'll always live for tomorrow
I'll look back on myself and say I did it for love
Yes I did it for love - for love - oh I did it for love

From the land of the warm sea

Posted on Oct 3rd, 2008 by Domus Ulixes : Some Kid Domus Ulixes
In a land, far far away from your horizons. Lies the land of the warm sea. It extends for many many hundreds of miles. And has no mountains. If one were to rize above it, it wouldn't be a far climb, to see the entire country.
The land, is scope of human imagination.
It holds no grudge for its inhabitants, for they have made her on their own. I thought that was good, to cherish your grounds, for you know how hard they are to find, or make. And so, cherish those around you. All of them. How they live on their own. In a place you call your own.
It sometimes is quite worrisome, how selfish us creatures become after time. .. .

Have you ever walked the dunes?
It makes you respect something as simple as grass. For you can see, how they made the lands we live in. You can smell the sea, and how awfully often, that has made turning-points in my life. It almost scares me to go their...

The sea...

Oh my.
How the sea can change you. And it consumes you, until you eventually cross it... Even the most land-based native African tribesman, will wonder what is behind that great mass of water. And this I know, I have seen them wonder...
And we sit in our chairs, wonder what to eat tomorrow. If you can be this free, why confine yourself soo much?

Analysis

Posted on Oct 4th, 2008 by Domus Ulixes : Some Kid Domus Ulixes
I am not going to analyse what went wrong. Or why It ended. And how painfull the feeling is, that I will not continue my life with one person just yet. Love will come again.
It doesn't matter how, or why it comes and goes. It matters how and why we enjoy it, once it lasts...

No Regrets

Posted on Oct 10th, 2008 by Domus Ulixes : Some Kid Domus Ulixes
Robbie Williams - No Regrets

Tell me a story
Where we all change
And we'd live our lives together
And not enstranged

I didn't lose my mind it was
Mine to give away
Couldn't stay to watch me cry
You didn't have the time
So I softly slip away...

No regrets / they don't work
No regrets / they only hurt
Sing me a love song
Drop me a line
Suppose it's just a point of view
But they tell me I'm doing fine

I know from the outside
We looked good for eachother
Felt things were going wrong
When you didn't like my mother

I don't want to hate but that's
All you've left me with
A bitter aftertaste and a fantasy of
How we all could live

No regrets / they don't work
No regrets / they only hurt
(We've been told you stay up late)
I know they're still talking
(You're far too short to carry weight)
The demons in your head
(Return the videos they're late)
If I could just stop hating you
(Goodbye)
I'd feel sorry for us instead

Remember the photographs (insane)
The ones where we all laugh (so lame)
We were having the time of our lives
Well thank you it was a real blast

No regrets / they don't work
No regrets / they only hurt
Write me a love song
Drop me a line
Suppose it's just a point of view
But they tell me I'm doing fine

Everything I wanted to be every
Time I walked away
Everytime you told me to leave
I just wanted to stay
Every time you looked at me and
Everytime you smiled
I felt so vacant you treat me like a child
I loved the way we used to laugh
I loved the way we used to smile
Often I sit down and think of you
For a while
Then it passes by me and I think of
Someone else instead
I guess the love we once had is
Officially dead

It is amazing how you can speak right to my heart.

Posted on Oct 12th, 2008 by Domus Ulixes : Some Kid Domus Ulixes
Without saying a word, you can light up the dark.
Looks that are pointing at me, that I cannot explain.
The smile on your face, lets me know all is well.

All day long, I can hear people talking about love.
But when you get near, you drown out the croud.
People, can never define, what is said between your heart and mine.

That is Ronan Keating. Less objectively interpreted...

But still,
A smile on your face. Could lift me out of my dark.
God, how much have I missed smiles.
Somebody please just look. Into my eyes.

We all want to fall in love.

Posted on Oct 12th, 2008 by Domus Ulixes : Some Kid Domus Ulixes
Again, and again, and again...

If it was up to us, Love would never sease. How lovely and uncontrolable would our lives be?
I don't know, Because it doesn't last. But don't grief the moment it ends. Enjoy the moments when you still have time to enjoy it. Remember the beginning, which feels best. Try and forget all the painfull moments you might get.
Keep your love letters, and if they are Online, print them, and keep them somewhere safe.
When the world comes to a standstill, you will have still some great things to read...

Don't be afraid, to fall in love, with someone you might not have expected it.
Though, yes it will be strange, it is this strange-couple thing, that makes things better then just great....

So, no worries!

He,
You know what, we live, and so much happens that we wonder why.
So many Things. But most of it we will never understand.

We are all afraid. Afraid of change. Afraid to lose, that what we once owned. Afraid to begin something new. We humans are so afraid of change, that we frantically even true to preserve our planet, in the exact conditions as we found it.

We are all looking for happiness, and try to reflect day to day upon our past. To see where we went wrong. Or where we went right. We make sure our past is well revised. But why?

The past cannot change, and so it is safe. We rather wouldn't want to think about the present, for that is ever changeing.

But you know what? The past doesn't make us happy. It is in the present where we fall in love. It is in the present where smiles upon our faces fall. And it is the future where we dream about.

So, don't think of better times in the past, and what hopes that past might derive. For they are never true, in fact, insurance companies reassure you it doesn't. Think of the present, and what dreams that might give. Or even better, think of the near future....
Soon to be present, but full of dreams.

Numb

Posted on Oct 14th, 2008 by Domus Ulixes : Some Kid Domus Ulixes
Numb - Portishead

When, feelings, drain,
drain,
drain,
fighting themselves 'lost' through veins.

Once one pulls himself over emotions,
drained of,
deprived of,
careless of,
And his past makes up but residue,
to drain.

When fooling something,
is no longer,
self or silence in heads...
That don't belong to me no more.

Don't fuck with me no more.

I see through you,
through your concepts, and conceptions,
of ideas, that do not feel
real

Cramp open like a spitting mouth,
No , nevermore I'll walk through marshes,
of promises,
that were never real.

I do not fear dead,
even though, he,
death,
is standing next to a dead,
memory.

Stop fooling, your own concoction,
their full of shit,
but empty to me.

Metaphysical manifesto

Posted on Oct 15th, 2008 by Domus Ulixes : Some Kid Domus Ulixes

Physicists, mostly, are realistic reductionist Copernicist mathematicists.

Realism is the prejudice that there is a universe out there, distinct from, but in communication with the physicist(1), and that understanding of this universe ought to be obtained by careful observation(2).

Reductionism is the prejudice that in order to understand complicated thingsit helps to understand its simpler parts(3).

Copernicism is the prejudice that the universe doesn’t care about the physicist’s tastes and preferences(4): the universe will keep going its own way as physicists fall for fads and fashions. In short, you are neither the center, nor at the center, of the universe.

Mathematicism is the prejudice that we can describe and, with luck, predict phenomena using the rules of the mathematical game(5); and that the universe deigns to conform to the rules of human mathematics(6).

All these prejudices may be wrong(7), but I will stick to them until they are clearly wrong.

Footnotes at text:

1: Denying this is solipsism: the solipsist cannot be proven wrong by logical argument, but is, perhaps for that very reason, not a nice person to be with.

2: Denying this disqualifies one from doing physics (but not from doing mathematics); in extreme forms it can lead to revelationism and religious fundamentalism.

3: Do not be misled by fashionable slogans like ‘holism’, ‘complexity’, or ‘self-organization’. In the language we are using here, holims just states that the simplest part of a thing may happen to be the thing itself; complexity just states that simple things obeying simple rules may actually result in something pretty complicated-looking; and self-organization just states that the complicatedlooking result may actually be pretty robust. The Pseudo-Scientific New Ager will sit back and be impressed by the complicated-looking result; the scientist will be impressed by the simplicity of the parts and rules. The science of complexity is not the antithesis of reductionism, but an extreme case of it.

4: Do not be misled by fashionable slogans like ’observer effect’,’collapse of the wavefunction’, or ’the measurement problem’. Observer effect just states that the physicist, after all, is unavoidably part of the universe, and a separation between self and the universe is an idealization; collapse of the wavefunction just states that as the status of the self changes because of information gained
from the universe, it should not come as a surprise that the status of the universe also changes; the measurement problem just states that at present it is not yet completely clear how these status changes are to be explained reductionistically.

5: After centuries of brainwashing by physics’ successes, it is extremely hard for us even to conceive of any other way of doing it.

6: An undeserved but very fortunate condescension! This behaviour cannot be proven, but so far we have been succesful. On the other hand, it may mean that our mathematics has hit upon some fundamental actual properties of the world—in that case, an alien thechnology-based civilization on a distant planet would probably do mathematics the same way.

7: An open mind is a good thing, but a prejudice such as ‘do not jump out of this high window, because gravity always works’ sees you safely through the day.

Feeling Fucked

Posted on Oct 20th, 2008 by Domus Ulixes : Some Kid Domus Ulixes
Read carefully, And I would really advice you to do so, because it took me three years just to be sure of it.

The objective human mind shows no difference whatsoever between men and women.

If one disregards our hormonal influences, and starts to look at human minds as a philosophical point of view. There is really no difference...

When, as a man, you find out, just what real love is. And let me tell you there are a few, that know just what it means. You will be seen as a rare freakshow among manhood. And it is true, there are very little men, that just really know what it means to truelly love someone....
But, after a few years, looking for this thing called women, which allegedly know what love is. You discover something, and seriously, you will never feel more fucked up then anything before...
Because, you will discover there are just as little women, who know what true love is... very little indeed.

And then you are all of the sudden, trapped in some sort of strange whirlpool.
Because, you know it is rather simple to love truely. And it isn't all that hard. But then, you are still surrounded by people, so convinced of themselves, they wouldn't have the slightest idea of what you mean...

about 4 years ago, I wrote 'deceit of the selfish mind' That title should be changed to; 'Deceit of the egocentric' mind. For it is egocentric people, who will in the end, always deceive themselves.

For true love, is an experiences, not a concept that can be learned. Though once you have had it, you can have it again, if you paid enough attention.
It is an experience, where we give ourselves in, to the world and to one person in particular, and completely unselfishly choose to enjoy the world around us.
And that is it.
That really is it...

Do you know your purpose in life?

Posted on Oct 23rd, 2008 by Domus Ulixes : Some Kid Domus Ulixes
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for October 23, 2008:

I have no purpose in life,
I am adrift in a careless void indifferent to all our mortal toil. (to quote XKCD)

But that is just the thing, I have no goal, no higher level to attain. No reason I must do this, or must achieve that. I am totally and utterly free. To live life, and enjoy it.
And I quite like it here. ;)

Why Enlightenment isn't Inevitable.

Posted on Oct 30th, 2008 by Domus Ulixes : Some Kid Domus Ulixes
As for an answer (I will only take the title) to your question;
In order to attempt to answer such a thing, I will use the definition of 'Bodhi' as found on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bodhi for 'enlightenment': In early Buddhism, bodhi carried a meaning synonymous to nirvana, using only some different metaphors to describe the experience, which implied the extinction of raga (greed), dosa (hate) and moha (delusion). In the later school of Mahayana Buddhism, the status of nirvana was downgraded in some scriptures, coming to refer only to the extinction of greed and hate, implying that delusion was still present in one who attained nirvana, and that one needed to attain bodhi to eradicate delusion [1]. Therefore, according to Mahayana Buddhism, the arahant has attained only nirvana, thus still being subject to delusion, while the bodhisattva not only achieves nirvana but full liberation from delusion as well. He thus attains bodhi and becomes a buddha

And so I will define 'Enlightenment' as; 'The extinction of greed, hate and therefore attachement, while achieving full liberation from delusion.
Where concepts like Greed and Hate are personal definition different per person. And 'Liberation of delusion' meaning a form of self awareness that makes on tackle its own weaknesses, and recognizing ones one illusions. And keeping a truthful view of the world around him. Not assuming more then is absolutely necessary.

Now I am able to answer the question:
Enlightenment isn't inevitable at all.
- At first, the extinction of hate and greed are for most people already untouchable concepts. That they will never achieve, for most people do not rise above their physically induced forms of attachment. Then there are many people that will dwell into mental forms of attachment. And an enlightened person will need to know all of these concepts. And must have experienced all such concepts, just so to know what it is he needs to rise above.

- At second; If indeed a person is able to rise above these concepts. And some really do. One still has to overcome delusion. And delusion is a very difficult concept to master, I might even say, that by mastering delusion alone. You will automatically master the first requirements of Nirvana. Out of cheer comprehension of the world around you. It is at first impossible to recognize ones illusion at princeps tempus, it is necessary to reflect upon ones one action, no matter how trivial it might seem. And perhaps reflecting outwards, in order to even get a slight glimmer of self behaviour. And for this one needs to be able to set oneself above emotions, and attachment.

- At third, which is my more personal opinion; I think that in order to do the above. One therefore needs a trustworthy system, or ideology that is able to reflect upon ourselves, and in essence all of nature. That doesn't assume to much, and basically has in it the limitation of knowledge. A system that has built in, all subjectiveness that one could ever encounter, elementarily while observing ones own. And so, when one begins to master his own subjectiveness, there is at least a basis that knows its own subjectiveness. And hence I am a physicist.
