The leaving of Peggy J

Posted on Dec 1st, 2008 by Domus Ulixes : Some Kid Domus Ulixes
Honestly said, I notice that every so often, some of the 'old-school' zaadsters. Are beginning to leave. Some for good reasons, others for very poor ones.
I think it is safe to say, that I by now belong to the old school. And yes, in the past people were more friendly, and less offensive. And that is what I still like about these discussions. Even thought in the past I had my fair share of foul language thrown at me.

But let me please remind you all:

- This is just online, it isn't real.
- What we hear from others hear needn't bother us in the choices we make to decide our path on this forum.
- What people tell us hear, they tell us as strangers, and nothing they say can be even slightly true, for they do not know you.
- We are free to answer, free to listen and free to respond.

And so, as a mod of various pods:
Don't be afraid to delete users, don't be afraid to block a user, don't be afraid to brind order in people that try to destroy the peacefull tranquility.! Be Wise, and righteous. Be Objective, and have a set of simple for everyone readable rules.
And as a personal advice; enchourage freedom of speach, but not freedom of shouting and fowl language.
(ow and disable HTML :P)

Good luck, And Peggy J,
Please come back!!!!

Hi Domus,

Interesting to see your blog today. I've started a thread at Gaia Networking on Blogs on Community, Interaction, Communication Could I provide a link and excerpt from your blog, there?

Domus, thanks for allowing the link; I have now done so.

Something that I wanted to ask you though:
“This is just online, it isn't real.”

This is both true and not fully true. True, in that we can't really know if a person is who they say they are; e.g. f2f, we can know a person's gender, approximate age, and some other facts from seeing them. But online, all these cannot be proved. This needs to be taken into account whenever we are talking to someone; and in a way, perhaps we see that they don't matter.

On Gaia, though, there are people who have spoken to each other on the phone; or actually met. So these relationships can flow into onilne and f2f.

Do you really mean this, though?Seeking clarification:

”- What people tell us hear, they tell us as strangers, and nothing they say can be even slightly true, for they do not know you.”

About the only way to completely verify who the person is that you are talking to is with the use of a webcam, and many genuine people wont use them, for whatever reason.

One should however still be quite aware. That No matter who that person is. It is just a thing with letters on a screen. And whatever this screen tells us to feel, is how we let that screen feel is. It isn't real. Something that can be turned of with the push of a button, shouldn't make us feel bad. Be strong, it is just words…
