The evil called: 'Dishwasher'

Posted on Jul 3rd, 2009 by Domus Ulixes : Some Kid Domus Ulixes
Common Dishwasher Problems

Now, to put into perspective I come from a European country where: ' the dishes are generally washed in a separate tub placed inside the sink. '

It is common in my country, that dishes are first dried before being put back into the closet. This results in: impeccably shiny dishes!

However many people these days have dishwashers. 'Because it is more conveniant'
Since most people already realize that the purchase, upkeep and running-cost of a dishwasher far outreaches the cost of any tub, brush and dishcloth. I will keep it unmotivated. So:

Fact 1 : Dishwashers are more expensive in all its finacial facets then its alternative.

Fact 2: Dishwashers cost more space to store.

One can already wonder, why one would even want a dishwasher. So people address the most simple argument: 'It saves time' or 'it is easier' or even 'it becomes cleaner'

Lets begin with that last one, is it really cleaner?
If you have a dishwasher you will know that due to the hot drying nasty brownish stains and other things get left behind on your forks, and knives and sometimes even plates after a wash. Even the thorough ones.

Fact 3: Dishwasher do not clean better that its alternative.

So, it must be simpler then?

Lets compare it to a tub and brush tactics. You clean up your table, put the dirty dishes on the kitchens counter, and wash them of, after-wards you dry them.
Now this poses a downside, for if you have a small kitchen counter, a lot of space is consumed by the dishes. And this might pose a problem. Even though of course, while doing the dishes one would assume you have already eaten, and hence do not need the kitchen counter anymore.

For a Dishwasher it goes like this. You get the dishes, and you put them in. Ah, that is a simple action. you might think. Problem is though: Everything belongs somewhere, forks here, knives there, plates there, cups there. This poses a difficulty. Whereas with the tub-variant you can just do it in random order. With a dishwasher you need to sort every dish piece by piece. Letting go of its ' more simple argument'

Fact 4: Dishwashers are not more simple then its alternative.

Well then it must save time right?

Wrong again. I disregard any time in which we have done nothing in the presence of the dishwasher, so its running time has no relevance.
Still.
Cleaning in a dishwasher takes about 15 minutes of time, if not even more. That is if it is empty to begin with. Most people put things in it, whenever they can. Meaning they open, role out the rack, put things in, sort them again, put the rack back, and closing the lid over 10 times a day! This consumes about half an hour.
Than we put it on, assuming it was already open, this doesn't take much more time.
Then we need to clean it out again. Problem here again is, puddles. it is unavoidable that you need a dishcloth the dry most of the things you take out of the dishwasher anyhow. Making the clean out time 20 minutes, plus storing things elsewhere.

This means that on average a dishwasher costs about an hour of your time. Whereas normal dishes cost about 15 minutes (cleaning, drying and putting it in closet) however, you need to do this twice a day. so 30 to 40 minutes time of your day.

Fact 5: Dishwashers are more time consuming that its alternative.

Conclusion
If you have a dishwasher, and it isn't a work of art that beautifully suits and decorates your kitchen.
Think again!
You are an ignorant person, not thinking over the concept of 'Dishwasher'

She

Posted on Jul 9th, 2009 by Domus Ulixes : Some Kid Domus Ulixes
She is like the the blur when I wake up. The fuzzy stuff that feels good. And you don't really loose, but is in sight wherever you go. And you can see her everywhere all the time.
And she only reveals what she wants you to see, the sleight of hand of which she baffels her surrounding. But so horribly fales in, as she is just like me.
She is nobodys fool, and is fooled only by herself.  With her head held up high, wondering if alone is enough, or just too little.

And when she decides, and concludes, alone is not enough. Wondering if together isn't always too much.

And then you wonder, what does a week or a month matter.
If 1 day with you feels like a week?

And a night like a month,
and only a look, can last forever.

I wake up, yet alone, but with a smile in my mind.
Somewhere far away,
In a land where women glow, and men plunder.

Love to Saskia,

Death of Sailor.

"Darling you know I'll love you, Til the end of time." - Sharon den Adel

My grandfather parted from us today. At least, for good....

...

What hurt the most was not his dead. No, not at all. It was what I discovered when I was there. It was horrible, My grandfather loved his wife utterly and true. My grandfather was the perfect example of real true love. And I had never known.
Regardless of what I saw, and what mystery lied within his eyes. I had never known.

It was so awfull. To see that go, to see how my grandmother was in pain. The pain of a lost loved one. The real pain. The pain I know only slightly.

And it such a pitty, that I never gotten to know that. How the subtle nature and the cloacking slight of hand my grandfather had all that time. Because I tell you people it is so rare! It is so god damn rare.

I would have liked to talk to him about it.

I would like to have known. How he traveld the world. Travelled the seven sees, see people of every race. Meet all languages. And found all people in the world. Only to find real love in a country far, far away.

But real love, not a romantic story, not a movie script. Not a game of sex. Love. And I never knew!

And now he is gone.
He has left.

He said goodbye, pressing to our heart, that we took care of his girl.
And I will. We will.

As of this day, he is an example to me. But I am different.
I have no secrets alike. And I will shout my way of life of the roof. I am no position to question other people's opinions about me. Neither do I really care.

I would have never known,
never guessed,
how my grandfather would depart, leaving in his wake, a symbol, the symbol in my family of love and life.

Shit,
How lucky I have been with my combination (both sides) of parents.
I couldn't have been given a more broad view and more true view of life and honesty than my two grandfathers.

But they both hided, and still do.

And some things,
Are no use in hiding,

I am in love aswell, I know, and today was just again an awakaning of how precious that is. I will not fight in, but for my relationship. And if my grandfathers could survive his milage, I wonder what can't. I share his genes. And I do not know if I share his vision of love. But I sure as hell know, I share his enjoyment of life.

Perhaps to fear of others.

Come on people,

live, and smile. You can hide all you want. What you feel, is who you are.
Always. And no matter what his children say, look at the love he had. He could have hid the entire world, and never had a shred of doubt.

qu'est-ce que 'la vie' ?

Posted on Jul 30th, 2009 by Domus Ulixes : Some Kid Domus Ulixes
A question often asked.

You can define it as biochemical equilibrium body that is self sufficient.

You can define it as a quantummechanical consciousness.

Or even as a gift from some higher dimensional power.

Either way, we all know it is there. It is one of the very, very few things, we can be certain of in this world!

So first of all Enjoy it

Second, we might find interference in it from all three above called explanations. You will be faced with contradicitions, your life will be hormonal, you will have emotions, you will be dealing with other people. And your faith will fall.

why?

Because that is life. you are an organism, therefore you will make mistakes which in time will hurt others. Fact 1.

You will be troubled with the will of other people, no matter how hard you will try, you will notice you cannot live life solely by your own will. Fact 2.

Your faith will fall, that is good, doubt and contemplation strengthens it, or renders it useless. Either way, believing a fictional tale, will surely put forward many contradictions after all, You didn't think of the tale yourself. Fact 3.

So now what?
enjoy life?

yep.

And if I might suggest an action.

Find someone to love.
real love.

cos as you will miss your limerence when they are gone.
You will not miss the love for them.

No matter what the distance, your love will remain, for that will never be gone. Love is that piece of the other, that isn't part of her at all, but does keenly resemble them, kept here with yourself. Regardless of their choices and actions. Hence you cannot love someone else, if you don't love yourself.

Don't try to achieve happiness through a relationship, you need to know how to become happy by yourself, you are the only one who can do it.

Remember, most people don't think, they can use this list.

You are different from others, and those difference can destroy you, or enrich you, if you are willing to accept them, and not let them consume you.

Friends come and go, and  a precious few stick with you. For they respect you, and also apply to the above list.

You can never always be wise, it is impossible. You will be faced with weak moments, just like you will be faced with strong.

You are never done learning, no matter who writes, no matter what you think. There will always be things to learn. Which is good, otherwise you'd better die.

There is no goal in life, no higher purpose, no reason for life. That is very good. For we are all free.
We are all free to chose our own goals in life. We are free to chose whatever purpose or reason our life should have.
We are utterly free to do whatever we want with our lives.
So keep a weary eye for those who want to supperimpose it upon you, and take care of the young, who didn't have the time or strength, to protect themselves from it.

and for all the other advice,
wear sunscreen.

regards,
Frederik
